About Whitney

(The Owner and Sole Groomer)

Whitney's strong passion for animals started very young. Her early childhood was spent watching her mother work in a wildlife veterinarian clinic, which soon fueled her dreams of becoming a vet herself. When Whitney wasn't found studying for school or playing soccer, she could be found enjoying the company of her pets. In her teenage years, she began working with horses, sheep, goats, and wide rage of other animals on a large ranch in Sonoma. One of the most rewarding experiences was working in a program dedicated to the use of therapy horses for people with special needs. These two jobs helped shape much of who she is today. There was no doubt in anyone's mind that working with people and their animals was her calling and where she found the greatest fulfillment. Her road to becoming a vet veered in another direction when she began to understand that her compassionate and sensitive personality was not capable of handling all the requirements of the job. So, in her late teens, she became a bather in a local pet grooming shop. It was there that she was introduced to dog grooming (not something she had ever thought of doing as an occupation). Her passion for dogs and her gift at communicating with them, her coworkers quickly realized she was a natural and off she went to grooming school. Not only did she get to express herself through creative means through the art of grooming, but she was still able to work helping animals. Now with almost 15 years of experience in the grooming industry, working for and with some of the best groomers in Sonoma and Marin County, she knew it was time to open her own salon. Thus, Whitney’s Dog Spa was established.
